Openness and Dialogue are not "Luxuries" any more
We all watched some of the videos that has been captured of the two Sectarian incidents in 2005 and 2006 in Alexandria and we all saw the streets of Muharram Bek in Alexandria were becoming a war zone which easily reminded us of Gaza streets during an Israeli Raid on the city. Only then we taught of nothing but a "DISASTER" on its way to become a civil war, if we only sat down and did nothing about it.
In the past, Muslim Militant groups of upper Egypt region were accused of wrecking havoc in the streets of the cities of some upper Egypt governates. But now, the violence and hatred has gone beyond any ideological or political lines and it's becoming more of a "popular" trend or changing into public hatred.
When a group of Muslim and Christian Egyptians sat together a year ago to confront the myths, stereotypes and misconceptions that each group believed about the other group, they were not spending their leisure time in some intellectual discussions. Rather, they were taking the issue very seriously and began to realize that the point of start is at the tips of their fingers.
They simply acknowledged that hatred begins at home, in every one's household, on the streets, in the places of worship and in work places.
They might not have solutions as of now but they definitely got it all down when they realized that hatred begins with ignorance and ignorance has to be fought out.
This model of Dialogue is so simple and real and it might just lay the ground for a bigger and a broader Dialogue amongst the entire Egyptian nation.
